Anatomy of a Swivel Connection: Why Some Rings Rotate and Others Don't
This piece builds on the earlier D-ring coverage by looking at a different hardware solution to a different problem: torque accumulation. It explains why a fixed ring transmits twisting force directly into a strap's fibers — producing the familiar corkscrew wear pattern — and how a swivel connection's rotating ring and internal pivot let the connection turn instead. It covers where swivels typically show up (anchor points and handle attachments that get picked up and reoriented often), the manufacturing tradeoff of adding a moving joint, and closes by framing swivels and D-rings as two legitimate hardware choices for two different failure modes, not a "better vs. worse" comparison.
